Aerial detect is opgericht vanuit een simpele constatering: traditionele beveiliging kijkt op ooghoogte, terwijl het luchtruim een blinde vlek blijft. Terreinbeheerders, festivalorganisatoren en beveiligingsdiensten krijgen steeds vaker te maken met onbevoegde drones. Zonder gespecialiseerde apparatuur is niet te achterhalen wie er vliegt, met welk doel en waar de piloot zich bevindt, met acute risico's tot gevolg, van valgevaar boven publiek tot spionage rondom vitale haveninstallaties.
